Angie Moon Conte

I see my process as a zen doodle. I have a defining starting point, and follow where my instincts take the work; however, it can always be traced back to the initial source. I am a fierce believer in keeping imagination first, and weaving a child like wonder into my years of traditional studying; leading my work to be described as “M.C. Escher like in its construction.” I am unconditionally enthralled with movement invention, and specifically look for dancers with unusual movement qualities. I am interested in the specific oddities and they nuances they possess naturally, and enhancing them to create something honest and new. I believe in celebrating athleticism, effort, and technical prowess just as much as I believe in celebrating stripped down and honest human moments. Thematically my work varies, the connective tissue always being the surreal quality, eye for design, showmanship, and nuance.
